I’m not an expert in this, but my general advice would be to look into stretches designed to increase flexibility in your back and neck (and possibly thighs) and to perform them daily or every other day for a month or two and see if you’re making progress.
If you’re overweight, losing some fat (especially if it’s taken the form of a ‘spare tire’) should make it easier to reach.
Ultimately, though, the fact of the matter is that many men aren’t able to reach for a variety of reasons. It’s worth trying for, but don’t hurt yourself straining in you can’t reach!
And remember, as with any sport, you should stop if you feel pain.
